I have a Master's in Counseling and Guidance from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in Health Education from Texas A&M University. At Texas A&M, I established the Health Education Unit at Texas A&M’s Student Health Center before coming to Austin where I worked for the City of Austin’s Health and Human Services Department.

Then I joined the staff of the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin and coordinated a federally-sponsored doctoral and postdoctoral fellowship program in Behavioral Neuroscience. I was a faculty member of the Department of Psychology.

I have had the opportunity to travel extensively and to live in Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Germany and Canada. I am married and have two grown sons.  

Besides my private practice in counseling, I do psychosocial assessments for immigration purposes, and give presentations on professional development and mental health.
